Revisiting Behavioral Integrity: Progress and New Directions After 20 Years

Behavioral integrity (BI) describes the extent to which an observer believes that actor's words tend align with their actions. It considers whether actor is seen as keeping promises and enacting same values they espouse. Although construct of BI was introduced in 1999 developed more fully 2002, it builds on work earlier scholars discussed related notions hypocrisy, credibility, gaps between espousal enactment. Since 2002 paper, a growing literature has established construct, largely but not exclusively leadership realm, critical antecedent positive attitudes such trust commitment, behaviors turnover performance, moderator effectiveness initiatives. by definition subjectively assessed, perceptions are susceptible various forms perceptual biases.
